St Leonard’s Church, Beaumont
We are holding a commemorative service in remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge led by Field Marshall, Viscount Julian Hedworth George Byng.
This Commemorative Service w I’ll be held at 11.00am on Sunday 30th April in St Leonard’s Church, Beaumont
We are raising funds for the Order of the Bath Flag to be restored. This flag was presented to Field Marshall Byng when he became a Viscount. It currently hangs in the Church and needs restoration and placing in a display cabinet to protect it. The War Memorial Club at Frinton-on-Sea is supporting us and are holding an exhibition in the Village Hall after the Commemorative Service. The Exhibition starts at 12.00 noon and will detail Viscount Byng’s military life with both pictures and artefacts.
We are honoured to have Lieutenant Colonel Simon Rushen Chief to the Commander of Staff at the High Commission of the Canadian Embassy attending.
You are welcome to come and join our celebrations for both the Service and Exhibition. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the St Leonard’s Beaumont Parish Church ‘Byng banner’ restoration fund.
